Cost Requirements for Metal Cabinets

The choice of materials directly affects the cost of metal cabinets. For instance, using cold-rolled steel sheets (SPCC) and then electroplating them raises the cost by about 35% compared to using galvanized cold-rolled steel sheets (SECC) directly. In addition, SPCC with electroplating adds 2 to 3 more days to the production time compared to SECC.

Compared to cast or forged parts, manufacturers build metal cabinets from profiles that are stronger and lighter. These profiles are easier to work with, need only basic equipment, and offer smooth surfaces that require less finishing. As a result, they help cut weight, speed up production, and lower costs.

Among the profile options for making metal cabinets, structural steel profiles offer the lowest cost. Aluminum profiles cost more and don’t offer as much strength, while stainless steel profiles are harder to machine and more expensive. That’s why designers usually prefer steel profile frames for metal cabinet construction.

To reduce production costs, manufacturers often use high-efficiency methods like profile rolling, stamping, and modular assembly.

When producing large batches of metal cabinets, designers should find ways to shorten assembly time and reduce labor costs. For smaller production runs, it’s better to use simple assembly methods like screw connections to keep things fast and efficient.
