1.Based on user environment
Determine the protection level of the control cabinet based on the user environment
Suppose the user’s environment involves rain, snow, wind, sand, corrosive gases, microorganisms, small animals, or other factors that could affect the installation and reliable operation of the electrical control equipment. In that case, the protection level of the control cabinet must be determined accordingly. The cabinet’s structure and dimensions will then be designed based on the determined protection level.
Temperature
Temperature is a decisive factor for the installation and reliable operation of electrical control equipment. If the operating temperature of electrical components exceeds the rated temperature by 10°C, their lifespan will be halved. If the temperature is too high, electrical components can burn out instantly. Control of the working temperature of electrical control devices is typically achieved by controlling both the ambient temperature and the internal temperature of the cabinet. Controlling ambient temperature may require high costs, such as using air conditioning, which is generally not recommended unless other methods are not sufficient. It is more common to reduce the internal temperature of the control cabinet through methods like reducing power density, using fans for airflow, or in more complex cases, using water cooling systems. These methods must comply with technical standards, and they will impact the overall dimensions of the cabinet.
Altitude
Increased altitude leads to thinner air, which worsens the heat dissipation of electrical equipment, causing a temperature rise. Therefore, altitude has the same impact on the electrical component layout diagram as temperature.

2. Electrical component dimensions
The size of electrical components directly affects the cabinet size and structure. Factors influencing component size include:
Voltage level of the primary circuit
Higher voltage levels require electrical components with higher insulation ratings. To ensure the safety and reliability of electrical equipment, sufficient electrical gaps and creepage distances are necessary, which increases the size of control components.
Current size of the primary circuit
Higher current demands larger conductive components, increasing the size and weight of control equipment. This requires the cabinet to be larger and stronger to support the components secure
3. Installation dimensions
Installation dimensions affect the layout of electrical components, including:
Electrical installation standards
The layout should ensure adequate electrical gaps between components and between components and wires, following installation and safety standards.
Installation process
The insulation design and installation techniques must be considered to ensure the proper arrangement of components.
4. Preliminary selection of standard cabinet dimensions
Using standardized cabinet sizes helps reduce design workload and lowers production costs while ensuring quality.
