Why Choose Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a common enclosure material because it combines corrosion resistance, cleanability, and strength.
Material Considerations
- 304 stainless steel for general corrosion resistance
- 316 stainless steel for better chloride and marine resistance
Typical Applications
Stainless steel enclosures are used in food processing, pharmaceutical, marine, and outdoor electrical applications.
Customization
We manufacture stainless steel enclosure shells and cabinet bodies to your drawings, including dimensions, cutouts, mounting, and finishing.

Choose the Grade From the Exposure
Grade selection should start with moisture, chlorides, cleaning chemicals, temperature and contamination. 304 is widely used for general industrial environments, while 316 may be considered where chloride exposure is more demanding. Neither grade is universally suitable, and the exact environment should be documented.
Fabrication Changes the Finished Surface
Cutting, bending, welding and grinding can affect appearance and local corrosion behavior. Drawings should identify weld finish, brushing direction, protected cosmetic surfaces and any post-fabrication cleaning or passivation requirement.
Coordinate Hardware and Dissimilar Metals
Fasteners, hinges, locks and mounting interfaces need compatibility review. Moisture trapped between dissimilar metals can create local problems even when the main enclosure uses stainless steel. Drainage and crevice avoidance are part of the design.
Do Not Infer an Enclosure Rating
Stainless steel grade does not establish IP, NEMA or other protection. Doors, gaskets, entries, vents and installed accessories define the complete configuration. State the target standard and verification scope in the RFQ.
Stainless Enclosure RFQ Checklist
- Site exposure and cleaning method
- Grade, thickness and finish
- Weld and cosmetic requirements
- Hardware and cable entries
- Target rating and required records
Compare the stainless steel enclosure range and 304 stainless applications. Send the environment and drawings through the contact page.
Record the Selection Decision
The approved material note should identify grade, finish, exposure assumptions and any required evidence. Recording why a grade was selected helps purchasing, production and maintenance avoid unreviewed substitutions later in the project.
When the exposure is uncertain, request samples, material evidence or project-specific testing instead of relying on a broad grade label.
